The Role Of The Brake Chamber
WinPride | Updated: Jun 23, 2017

The effect of the brake chamber is to convert the pressure of the compressed air from the brake valve into the mechanical force of the brake chamber pusher. Commonly used brake chamber with diaphragm and piston type two.

The pneumatic brake chamber is typically composed of a brake housing and a cover and is connected together by a clamp having a brake chamber diaphragm between the housing and the cover which, when in a free state, is in close contact with the cover. The other side of the diaphragm is in contact with the disc of the push rod and the other end of the push rod has a connecting fork for connecting the brake cam adjustment arm. When the brake pedal is depressed, the compressed air enters the brake chamber, deforms the diaphragm under air pressure, pushes the push rod, and drives the adjustment arm, turning the brake cam against the brake drum Action. When the brake pedal is released, the air in the brake air chamber is discharged into the atmosphere through the brake valve exhaust port, and the push rod and the diaphragm are retracted by the diaphragm spring to release the brake.
